AWS CloudWatch
Route CloudWatch alarms from an SNS topic; OK states close alerts.
MONITORINGSetup difficulty: Medium
1
Create the integration in NOCBuddy
In NOCBuddy, go to Settings → Integrations → New Integration and choose AWS CloudWatch (via SNS). Field mapping and severity are pre-configured. Copy the webhook URL it gives you.
2
Point AWS CloudWatch at NOCBuddy
- In SNS, create a topic (or use an existing one) and add a subscription with protocol HTTPS and your NOCBuddy webhook URL as the endpoint
- NOCBuddy confirms the subscription automatically — it should show as Confirmed within a few seconds
- In CloudWatch, set your alarms' notification actions (ALARM and OK) to publish to that SNS topic
- ALARM creates an alert and OK closes it. INSUFFICIENT_DATA notifications are ignored
Menu names can vary a little between AWS CloudWatch versions. Stuck? Send a test alert — if it doesn't appear, the integration's Raw Events log shows exactly what arrived.
3
Recoveries close alerts automatically
When AWS CloudWatch reports the problem is over, NOCBuddy resolves the matching alert (and its incident, once nothing else in it is open) — no one has to click anything. Pair it with grouping rules, runbooks and one-tap Slack acknowledge for a calm on-call.
